The new Headquarters of the Royal Black Institution includes amongst a range of facilities a museum which can showcase the history of the organisation. The library and other spaces will give then a great platform on which to study and reflect before promoting their past.

The space had already been transformed for the opening with interpretative panels and an exhibition on their previous Sovereign Grand Masters entitled ‘Leaders’ Legacy’.

Our Imperial Grand Master whose career was in engineering and project management found the capital programme of interest and spoke with the man who made it all happen – the building contractor, Weir Brothers.

The discussed the challenges of working on a listing building and often the challenges of working with committee based organisations. Wor Bro. Anderson praised the standard of the work and the great use of space.

The guided tour of the building by Mr Weir was more detailed and insightful and gave us plenty of ideas for capital projects which the ILOI will undertake this year.
