REFORMATION DAY SERVICE – A CALL TO FAITH AND ACTION
The central event of Sunday’s commemorations was the Annual Reformation Day Service, preached by Bro Phil Moffatt. His address took the congregation back to the life of Martin Luther, his journey to faith, and the courageous stand that changed the world.
In an inspirational and informative sermon, the scriptural principles of Protestantism were laid out with clarity and conviction. The challenge was issued to all present: To respond to the call of truth, as Luther once did.
The ILOI each year drafts and presents Resolutions which are adopted on the Twelfth Day. The Protestant faith and its protection and promotion is central to all we do and fathers prominently in these Resolutions which are like a manifesto or pledges issued by the Order. They are a public proclamation of what we feel is important, a commentary on current affairs and a set of proposals to address issues and problems we identify. The commemoration and promotion of the Reformation is one aspect of what we do as an organisation and unlike others like political parties who are often accused of forgetting or breaking their election pledges we aim to keep ours.
As Independents we aim to Realise our Resolutions by turning fine words and lofty aspirations into action. If you are interested our Twelfth Resolutions are available online. If you agree with them, and would like to see action to achieve them – then we issue a challenge to you – why not come and join us and help us in the work we have outlined. We see Orangeism as the Protestant faith in action and we welcome all men and women who share our faith and ethos.
