The Imperial Grand Master of the Order Phil Moffatt said ” That the comments of the President are appalling and they are an absolute insult to the families and to the brave memory of our servicemen, many of whom paid the supreme sacrifice during the 20-year conflict. Whilst 457 of our British Troops lost their lives in the middle east, sadly there was many more who returned home with life changing injuries and still suffer the consequences to this very day. For the President to diminish the bravery of our fallen heroes is a disgrace and he needs to be called out for it and apologies without delay. I’m sure the American Forces who fought alongside our troops would be appalled by the comments of their Commandeering Chief. It is the Ultimate Insult to the integrity of the British Army to suggest that our Troops stayed away from the front line.
