The ring of Luther’s hammer still echoes through history as his courage and faith faced down the might of the Church of Rome. His actions on that October Day began the process known as the Reformation and It’s results define us as individuals, as an Institution and as a nation. From the faith we live to the freedoms we enjoy today the actions of Martin Luther have given us so much.

Despite the current pandemic restrictions we will be marking these events as we do annually and this year perhaps spending more time reflecting on them and what they mean for us.  Included in the Programme of Reformation events are:

Annual Reformation Service

As Protestants, we celebrate the tradition that grounds our faith on Reformation Sunday. It is always the last Sunday in October, marking the occasion in 1517 when Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the church door in Wittenberg, Germany. This event marked the beginning of the Reformation, but it began with one man having the courage to follow his convictions and act upon what he believed. We would urge all members and friends to consider joining us in what will be a socially distanced and specially organised service to give thanks to God for his hand in history.

Online Service and Resources

We hope to be able to stream this event live on our Facebook page and a virtual exhibition will accompany it, so please engage with our resources and if you are unable to attend, set aside that time on that Sunday to join with us virtually.


Resources and Reflections

To help lodges, members and the wider community commemorate and educate themselves we will be making a number of online resources available. For children at home over Halloween holidays we hope these materials will be fun and educational.
