We are glad to see local Councils marking the Centenary of Northern Ireland and we will be working with them and hope that our lodges and bands will avail of funding from their local Councils and others to help support Centenary Projects. The Institution will be hosting a Virtual planning and information day to help lodges, bands and other community groups who would like to work with us to Mark this Centenary of our Country. We will offer funding support and advice, help with marketing and promotion of events as well as developing our calendar of events in line with others in our community and at a national level.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is developing a programme of events and initiatives to mark this historic occasion.

The programme aims to:

Promote the Borough as an attractive place to visit, invest and do business;

Celebrate our people, places and products by showcasing the rich sporting, cultural, entrepreneurial and academic talent;

Build a shared understanding of our collective history in a way that can build good relations and reconciliation by facilitating opportunities that both reflect on our past as well as build for our future; and

Recognise and build awareness of this significant anniversary, locally, nationally and internationally, supporting expression of the diverse identities and culture that exist within the Borough.

The four key themes are:

Heritage and Culture;

Great Northern Ireland Minds and Innovation;

Sport & Wellbeing and Community Development; and

Food, Drink and Entertainment.
