This year we decided that charity should begin at home, or at least in Ballymoney and are supporting our own local Ballymoney Food bank.
We have all seen the cost of living spiral in the last few years with energy and food prices making everyday necessities now a luxury for many families. The shocking statistic is that 1 in 5 people the UK live under the poverty line. Many of these are children who are missing our on regular warm meals. While we welcome and have supported international charities we believe that the British Government should look after the most vulnerable in our own society making it more equal for ordinary people before they consider foreign aid.
This year we will be helping our own community directly through the local food bank. We would commend this charity which opened in 2014 and has been a vital service to local families since. We would also urge those who are finding it a struggle to make ends meet to reach out to the food bank for help.
