This year we have been able to bring you a range of virtual and online offerings to help make up for the real life events which could not be held. The Virtual Twelfth was a huge success and more and more people are using their computers, tablets and smart phones to join us.
So specially for Christmas we bing you the best gift of all. A gift that is given to every British monarch and described as “ the most valuable thing that this world affords”. It is of course the Bible and we bring you a series of special seasonal readings. And the gift we refer to is during the monarch’s coronation when as was in the case of our present Queen after she took the oath, the Moderator of the Church of Scotland presented the Queen with the bible.
V. The Presenting of the Holy Bible
When the Queen is again seated, the Archbishop shall go to her Chair; and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, receiving the Bible from the Dean of Westminster, shall bring it to the Queen and present it to her, the Archbishop saying these words:
Our gracious Queen:
to keep your Majesty ever mindful of the law and the Gospel of God
as the Rule for the whole life and government of Christian Princes,
we present you with this Book,
the most valuable thing that this world affords.
And the Moderator shall continue:
Here is Wisdom;
This is the royal Law;
These are the lively Oracles of God.
We often forget the power and value of this book – God’s Word. Our Orange Advent Calendar will bring readings you can open and enjoy in the days before Christmas. They are read by Grand Lodge Officers of the Institution. So join us in our homes, at our fireside as we share biome favour passages with you. We hope you enjoy our gift to you and remember don’t be opening them before the day, it will ruin the surprise!

Join Us Each Day
As we look forward to a Christmas unlike all others, let us take the time usually spent shopping or visiting or spending money to think about that little baby born in a stable, who would become the saviour of the world.
